Professor Dave discovered Jiu-Jitsu through the Modern Army Combatives Program while he was enlisted in the U.S. Army. He quickly became passionate and excited about grappling: “Mastering the martial arts became my life goal from that point on,” he said. Once he finished his contract, he almost immediately began studying at Gracie Barra in St. Louis under the tutelage of Professor Mike Buckels. Now almost 9 years into his journey, he trains avidly to hone his craft. He has earned medals in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling.
Professor Blake has been practicing martial arts since 2003 and has competed in mixed martial arts, judo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has been a lifelong athlete who draws upon a multitude of coaching disciplines to keep students engaged and progressing, while still having fun. Professor Blake has also been a certified personal trainer since 2011 and is a believer in having a well rounded workout routine and proper nutrition.
Jonny has been involved in the sports industry for many years working for the NFL and the NHL. In 2011 he began working for Gracie Barra as the Regional Marketing Director and is currently the Kids Coach at Gracie Barra West County.
Coach John served his country in the airborne infantry division of the United States Army. learning the art of combat during his service and wanting to continue a passion for learning brought him to Gracie Barra. A father of two Coach John brings an understanding and nurturing nature to his approach in teaching kids and adults.
Coach Shane is a Gracie Barra Blue Belt and father of 4. All 4 of his Children attend the school and he brings the attention and caring of a father to his teaching style in every class. Coach Shane teaches our Little Champs Classes ages 4 to 6.View Instructor
