Professor Jake Martin

Professor Jake is a firm advocate of the “Jiu Jitsu For Everyone” attitude that is the backbone of Gracie Barra. When he bows onto the mat, his goal is to better anyone with his precise instruction of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, regardless of athletic prowess, age, or mental ability.

“Every day on the mat I strive to help our students be the best they can be. Some people it’s a weight issue, others it could be self-esteem or to feel empowered. I feel that it is important for everyone be able to achieve the goals they set for themselves when they step onto our mat.”

Educated in California in exercise science he started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu looking for an activity that would meet his fitness goals.

“Brazilian Jiu Jitsu has it all. Strength training, cardio, flexibility, muscular endurance…everything a body needs.”

His attitude towards training and the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lifestyle is a simple one, and one he follows himself. Commitment, determination, and a passion to better oneself through exercise and mental discipline.
