Children’s Martial Arts in West County (Age 4-9)

Can a martial art support a parent’s instruction?

    Reinforcing Values

Deciding to invest in martial arts classes for your child is an important choice to make. The program your child chooses to participate in should properly teach them the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with an emphasis on values to use in their daily lives.

Unlike most traditional martial arts school, Gracie Barra West County takes on a deep-rooted approach to a child’s development. We honor ourselves in not being a belt factory, and we will not push your child through a system of katas, forms, and other martial art choreography. In an effort to prove our devotion, we do not charge for tests or belts.

    Teaching Defensive Skills

Ultimately, our team wants to teach the highest standard of Jiu-Jitsu possible, but our main goal is to work with parents in developing strong, confident, respectful, and healthy boys and girls who will become excellent people who are good to their communities.

Our martial arts classes are taught in a welcoming, fun, and challenging group environment, and our instructors pay attention to the needs of each of our students. Our children’s program is split into two age groups; one caters to 4-6 year-olds while the other is ideal for kids ranging from ages 7-9. By implementing age appropriate learning, we are also able to provide a better instructor to student ratio. Our classes focus on physical fitness, auditory skills, and starts the basic instruction of defense and bully prevention through the fundamentals of the Gracie Barra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu system. We also offer live training and competition prep for children that want to pursue competitions. Competitions are always a choice and never a requirement at our academy.

    The First Class

Aside from being self-defense, playing Jiu-Jitsu is a competition sport and a type of exercise that our West County students just can’t get enough of. We are a family first martial arts school; when you come to visit you will experience a family-friendly atmosphere that our students treat as a second home. We welcome you to test out a free class to see for yourself how beneficial Jiu-Jitsu can be for your child!

When you step food into our Academy, you will be welcomed by a team member from our friendly staff. It is important that you arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of class so that you and your children have time to prepare and practice. The class will begin on time, and your child will be required to walk the training area where an instructor will be waiting. One of our assistant or senion students will be assigned to assist your child in performing drills and activities. We encourage all parents to stay and watch the entire practice.
